HO'OPONO WORKSHOP
Ho'opono's non-profit Workshop provides gainful employment for blind and visually impaired persons through a training and transitional work program.  Some employees have disabilities that the Workshop is best suited to accommodate.  Others will move on to more competitive employment.
In the Workshop, clients sew and make items for sale.  They also do sub-contract work for other companies.
Therapeutic and recreational activities are provided thought the Work Activities Center.
The Work Evaluation and Adjustment Training Unit helps the trainee determine suitable work, based on the individual's capabilities and employment goals.
General Information:
  • Ho'opono Workshop presently employs an average workforce of 30 persons in the program.
  • Whenever possible, the Workshop is able to provide you with pick up and delivery of supplies and materials used in the performance of your contracted services.

Other Information:
  • Blind workers receive remuneration for the work they complete and charges are assessed according to labor costs, any materials needed to complete the job, and a reasonable mark up to cover for the Workshop's administrative expenses
  • Charges to your company are based upon prevailing wage rates and time studies conducted in order that our blind workers be compensated fairly in accordance with the U.S. Department of Labor.
  • Usually an ample supply of products/materials are needed by Workshop staff to conduct these time studies and will be returned to you upon the completion of a price quotation.
